and violets are blue,

Then I would be lying since violets are not, in fact, the color blue. According to our visual sense, if we were to see this flower, wether it be directly or indirectly (e.g. from a photograph), it is quite obvious that the flower violet has the same color as the name implies, it is the color violet. It does not just simply absorb the light color red and green to reflect blue in an optic sense, it absorbs a certain combination and reflects the unabsorbed light colors and reflects them back into the human's eye, and if we combine these reflected colors, it will form violet. Hence I can conclude the classic saying of violets being blue false.

On an unrelated note, Michelle is pink.
