RANKING EVERY TOMOE 4* BECAUSE YOU CAN'T STOP ME

Nobody asked for this but best girl needs her content ^-^

Keep in mind i only dislike 2 or 3 Tomoe cards! If I have it higher than that I really like it, it was just beaten by some other cards!

12: Arabian Nights Tomoe

Ranking in the set: 4/4

Image

Oh, Arabian Tomoe. I had SUCH high hopes for the Arabian set, especially when I realized BEST GIRL GOT A 4*. And the untrained is GORGEOUS. However, the trained REALLY let me down, and Queen T's face and hair look really strange and out of place to me. I feel like Arabian Nights was one of those sets where the 3*'s got all the real action, whether it was the gorgeous colors and expression or the sheerly adorable face and posture.

11: Sensenfukoku Tomoe

Ranking in the set: 3/3

Image

Sensenfukoku itself was the best thing to come out of this event, from what I've seen. I've heard the story is the most Tomoe-centric of all, so I'm REALLY excited, but the cards themselves are.... drab. Who thought this set was interesting? Like Afterglow White Day, they pinned Tomoe with Tsugu because she's kinda "the other one" in Afterglow (I LOVE HER GUTS THOUGH), but OF COURSE Tsugu has the better card because they're not afraid to MAKE TSUGU CUTE AND INTERESTING. Tomoe's card is... flavorless. Even Moca's 3* trumps Tomoe's simply because it's interesting. Shame, really, as a Tomoe-centered event couldv'e easily become my favorite in the whole franchise.

10: McDonald's Tomoe

Ranking in the set: 2/4

Image

Just like the last 2 cards, the thing that really bothered me about this set was the WASTED POTENTIAL. You'll also, spoiler alert, see me complaining about wasted potential for the next 3 cards. This one's the first one, however, to not be from an Afterglow set. A SAYATOMO SET WITH THE YAMABUKI BAKERY, HAZAWA COFFEE, AND KITAZAWA MEAT GIRL GETTING FOOD-SHOP STYLED TRAINED'S???? AND BEST GIRL GETTING A 4* INSPIRED BY THE FAST FOOD RESTAURANT SHE WORKS AT???? And a fair deal of the cards DELIVER. Saya's is a little strange with the magic wand and dancing bread, albeit adorable, Tsugu's pose is one of those rare out-there poses that actually looks good, and the best card in the set, Hagumi's, is honestly just about perfect. Now you might wonder why I have Tomoe's card so low if I feel this way. Oh, this one thing makes me so sad, because the card is otherwise really great, with Tomoe's face and hair both being very well-drawn. Oh, here goes.... OVERSEXUALIZATION. Something about the sultry wink, the little smile, the outfit, and the pose don't sit right with me AT ALL. Also, they clearly made Tomoe's body VERY DIFFERENT from what it ACTUALLY looks like, which is weird.

9: White Day Tomoe

Ranking in the set: 2/4

Image

As promised, I'm kicking things off with a rant about wasted potential. THIS COULDV'E BEEN THE NEXT WHITE DAY KAORU, AS KAORU AND TOMOE CANONICALLY ARE THE 2 MOST WOMAN-ATTRACTING GIRLS AT SCHOOL, AND WHITE DAY'S GOTTA BE THE PEAK OF THAT. But Tomoe looks a little... weird in this card. Her pose, head-tilt and face (particularly teeth) look just a little... off. I still quite like the card, and think it's better than both 3*'s, but that's why I can't put it any higher. On the kinda-upside, I LOVE Tsugu's card. Again, I feel like they aren't as afraid to make her look cute, and the window thing is VERY pretty.

8: DFv2 Tomoe

Ranking in the set: 2/2

Image

Dreamfest 2 has given us some of the most gorgeous cards in the franchise, so the overall drab-ness of DFv2 Tomoe made me a bit sadder. However, it's still an amazing card... but this brings me to my biggest problem. You have to be staring at the full-screen version in hd to see what makes it great. Once you can see the full background, it really is gorgeous, but you shouldn't have to go through all that effort just to understand what makes a card great.

Number 7: Chess Tomoe

Ranking in the set: 1/4

Image

The second TomoAko set had SO MUCH POTENTIAL, especially when you think about how great the first one was, and Tomoe to a great extent delivers. She looks SO PRETTY here, With her face, hair, and body / outfit. Everything is SO well-drawn. And you might be thinking "well, if it's so great, why is it middle-of-the-pack?". And the answer is because A CHESS SET JUST WASN'T A GOOD IDEA. The background is so boring it makes the card far less interesting as a result. She definitely has the best card in the set, but it's not saying much because the set overall is sooo boring. I would LOVE this set TO DEATH. if they had put her over ANY other background, not just..... c h e s s .

Number 6: Mechanical Tomoe

Ranking in set: 1/4

Image

After the downward spiral of the last couple of Tomoe cards, I was VERY pleasantly surprised with the most recent (well, SECOND most recent) event's mechanical Tomoe. A gorgeous card, truly, from her ponytail to her expression (take a shot every time I say expression and plan your funeral accordingly) to the background to her MONOCLE, everything about this card is great. The only issue is it being A LITTLE, say it with me, BORING. I've seen this before, give me something NEW. But a great card nonetheless.

Number 5: Cowgirl Tomoe

Ranking in the set: 1/4

Image

The way this thing DESTROYED cowgirl Himari and cowgirl Himari is my favorite Himari card anyways ;-) But seriously, this is the first bandori card lil' ol me ever laid eyes on, and I knew pretty much instantly I LOVED the redhead in the picture. Tomoe looks so unapologetically TOMOE, no McDonald's Tomoe type crap. Her hair is gorgeous, her pose and the way she's hitting those drums is EXCITING and FRESH, even if this card came out IN 2018! Overall a really solid card that I'm happy has started off our Top 5.

Number 4: Taiko Tomoe

Ranking in the set: 1/4 (and it's the biggest quality gap in this whole thing)

Image

It's not even FUNNY how much better Taiko Tomoe is than the rest of this here set. And that's not my bias, either. The Sayo's ALRIGHT, but I genuinely dislike both the Kokoro and the Kasumi. At first, I didn't even LIKE Taiko Tomoe. AT ALL. But it slowly but surely grew on me as I grew to understand Tomoe's character, and now I love it for, like Cowgirl Tomoe, just how TOMOE it is. The Taiko Drumming is a very cool feat we NEVER see, adding to that fresh and inventive feeling, and the way Tomoe's yelling as she beats down onto the drum is. CHEF'S KISS. This also happens to be my favorite outfit in Queen T's whole arsenal. Ironically my least favorite Taiko / Authentic Japanese set in the game, but FAR from my least favorite Tomoe card.

I WASN'T GONNA MAKE SOME BIG ANNOUNCEMENT, BUT BEHOLD. THE TOP 3. I WOULD RIP MY PINKY FINGERS OFF FOR THESE CARDS. THEY ARE THE BEST THINGS TO COME OUT OF THIS GAME PERIOD. Now let's kick this off with the Tomoe that fixes all of some of these lower Tomoe's problems.

Number 3: Princess Tomoe

Ranking in the set: 1/4

Image

OH, Princess Tomoe. THIS is the Queen of all Queen T's (you might have noticed I call her Queen T. I will Hey Hey Hoh the hell out of this nickname until it EVENTUALLY sticks). The SWEETNESS of this girl, the ELEGANCE, the EVERYTHING. Now, I know you saw me say this card fixed the problems of some of the lower cards. This is the way they weren't afraid to make her CUTE and INTERESTING here. I mean, look at how much better this card is than PRINCESS HIMARI, a card virtually nobody remembers. It's because when they make Tomoe beautiful, she's BEAUTIFUL and outshines every girl in this game by a longshot. And yet they don't remove Tomoe's classic, edgy charm with the more authethic styling of the dress. Oh, Tomoe. Never change.

Number 2: DFv1 Tomoe

Ranking in the set: 1/5

Image

This card makes me want to scream gibberish from the rooftops. That doesn't make it sound like I love it all that much, but trust me I DO. THE HAIR. THE OUFIT. THE WAY YOU CAN SUBTLY SEE THE CITY IN THE BACKGROUND. AND MORE THAN ANYTHING, YOU GUESSED IT, HER EXPRESSION. SHE LOOKS SO BEAUTIFUL AND WELL-DRAWN HERE. Honestly, this card is a big reason why I'm not that bitter about the missed opportunity of Chess Tomoe. DFv1 Tomoe is if the missed opportunity with the background wasn't missed and was done 20x BETTER. You probably know what my number 1 is by now (WE'LL GET TO HER DON'T YOU WORRY), and I have to admit this is a better-drawn card objectively. Tomoe. Is SO MUCH BETTER than the rest of Afterglow for Dreamfest. AND IT'S NOT EVEN REMOTELY CLOSE. God, this Tomoe is AMAZING. And I'd be GLAD to call it my NUMBER 1. But I can't, because of the best card in this entire franchise.

Number 1: Nurse Tomoe

Ranking in the set: 1/3 DUH

Image

Heh.

Hahaha.

HAHAHAHAHAHAA.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAA-

OH. MY GOD. EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS CARD IS MAGIC. EVERY STRAND OF QUEEN T'S PERFECTLY DRAWN HAIR. EVERY STITCH IN HER CLASSIC, YET STILL TOMOE-STYLE SPUNKY OUTFIT. EVERY MUSIC NOTE IN THOSE HUGE CAPSULES OF GOD-KNOWS-WHAT-GOODNESS IN HER BACKGROUND. EVERY BEAT IN THOSE PULSE LINES AT THE VERY BACK OF THE CARD. I CAN'T EVEN DESCRIBE TO YOU WHAT I FELT THE FIRST TIME I SAW THIS CARD. I'M NOT SURE I'LL EVER BE THE SAME. I KNOW THE WORLD WON'T. I MEAN, THERE'S A REASON THIS IS THE MOST FAVORITED TOMOE CARD ON BANPA. HUMANITY AS A WHOLE MAY NEVER RECOVER FROM "THE PATIENT IN PAJAMAS" BY TOMOE UDAGAWA. IT'S EVERYTHING I HAVE AND EVERYTHING I AM. Lol, got a LITTLE dramatic there. I couldn't help it. I love you, Tomoe. Queen T of Everything.
